fun, but not quite what I expected

The screenshots and description gave me hope that it might be a Wipeout-style racer - race on sets of tracks, progress through to harder tracks and unlock ships with different characteristics etc.

I figured for a buck I'd try it out.

But it's not what you'd call a conventional racer. Other than acceleration/deceleration your only real movement control is left or right, trying to avoid the red squares while picking up the blue squares and the golden orbs; as the track gets progressively faster, and the obstacles harder and hard to avoid.
Think 3D Tiny Wings with Wipeout-inspired graphics.

It's a fun game, and I hope to see more from this studio in future - but it's no Wipeout. I'm hoping that Ion Racer is a stepping-stone to something closer to that sort of racing game.

Wonderful game. Saw it in my Genius and dismissed it at first. Now I wonder how I did that. I'd recommend this to anyone.
